Movies I would love to watch this summer
May 1st, 2008
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull - trailer
IronMan - trailer (Trailer looks great! Can’t wait to watch)
HellBoy II - The Golden Army (yeah really… saving the world is hell of a job)
And there’s also news that there’s gonna be a sequel to the Dirty Harry series. Well… I can’t wait to see Clint Eastwood back as Inspector Harry. The news sources say that the story is about Harry taking revenge for the death of his grandson. But anyway, this one won’t be around anytime this summer. Maybe be next summer.

Dating site for Geeks and Nerds!!!
May 1st, 2008
Wow!
A dating site for Geeks and Nerds! I found this at findyourgeek.com
The site looks cool from the outside (I am yet to signup and check the features). The geekiness of the site starts from the introduction on the homepage. I love that simple but upto-the-point intro.
Thats for the l33t (means ‘Elite’ in the geek dictionary)
More such words like l33t can be found at The Jargon File. Its a Hacker’s dictionary. And a hacker is one who solves problems on a computer (the good ol’ programmer). Cracker is someone who peeps into computers and performs tasks without the user’s permission (a virus is a cracker’s dirty job, not a hacker’s). ‘Hacker’ in common man’s language means the opposite just because of a misconception.

last prime number upto 100000
May 1st, 2008
last prime number upto 100000, originally uploaded by akashxavier.
A couple of weeks back (15-Apr-08), in my computer programming lab class, we were asked to write a C program to find-out whether a given number was a prime number or not (yawn…)
As usual, I finished the whole thing in a few minutes and still had a lot of time left. So, I modified the program to do some crazy stuff. I modified the program so that when a number N is inputed, it prints all the prime numbers between 0 and N. My first try was 100, then 1000 and then 50000.
When 50000 is entered as a limit, 49999 is the last prime number. When 100000 is entered as the limit 99991 is the last prime number. It took around 3 minutes to display the end result for a limit of 100000. The comp I guess, is a P3 (around 5-6 years old).
Out of curiosity I googled a to find the largest prime number and ended up on this site http://www.mersenne.org
The site is the home of the Mersenne Prime Search project. Their motive is simple, just to keep finding prime numbers! Sounds funny and crazier than my program’s idea. And they call those prime numbers Mersenne Primes. Why? What? When? How?… I look into those details later. For now, at the time of this post, the 44th known Mersenne was found on September-06. The number is 232,582,657-1.
Goshhh!!! How do I memorize that?
Oolaa!
